Presentation: Water, Weather and Climate

Neil has been in the weather, climate and water 'business' for more than 30 years and has a keen interest in helping governments, industries and communities better manage risks and capture opportunities. His main interest is in sustainable development since the mitigation and adaptation to climate changes are urgent and essential.
Neil was a senior leader in the Bureau of Meteorology from 2010 to 2018, including as head of Climate Information Services for most of that period. From 1997 to 2001 he was the Bureau's Climate Data Manager before leading its National Climate Centre in 2002. In 2008 he shifted into the world of hydrology as Manager of Extended Hydrological Prediction. Neil has held positions on World Meteorological Organization expert teams and management committees and is a former Contributing Author with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. From 2012 to 2018 Neil was on DFAT's steering committee for the Climate and Ocean Support Program in the Pacific.
