Abstract: Strategic Foresight in the Water Sector
11.45am - DAY 1
Heidi manages Melbourne Water’s Corporate Strategy and Government Affairs team. She has played a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the Victorian urban water sector and in particular its shift to a customer centric approach. Her roles in the water sector include the review of Melbourne Water’s Business Model and Operating Model (2014), the Water Supply and Demand Strategy (2010) and more recently establishing Melbourne Water’s Government Affairs function.
Heidi’s sweet spot is her ability to work with diverse stakeholders to achieve outcomes. She works with executives and leaders to build influence. She enjoys the interface between the political process and strategic advocacy but is committed to the preservation of longer term evidence-based strategies for the public good.
Prior to joining Melbourne Water Heidi worked for the Sustainability Advisory Group (an international management consultancy) based in London/Dubai and spent two years developing and implementing sustainability change programmes for two global clients – Westfield and Nakheel (at the time the world’s largest privately owned property development company). In her early career she worked as an engineer with Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM, now Jacobs). This included time as an Australian Youth Ambassador in Kiribati (a Pacific nation) working with local communities to improve health outcomes associated with water and sanitation.
Academically, Heidi has an Executive Masters of Public Administration (EMPA) and honours degrees in Civil Engineering and Law.
